Has your dog fallen down from the contact obstacle?
We have been training Agility for more than 15 years, for 14 years we have been producing contact obstacles and during this period we founf out, that a safety of the dog is the most important part of Agility. We try to produce our obstacles so the dog can trust the surface, on which he runs. That is why we decided to test a completely new surface. It is a special carpet. For the beginning we chose two beautiful and shiny colors. We ourselves are curious, how this surface would behave in the winter, mud or sun. A guge weight loss of the see-saw is the great advantage for us, girls and women. In fact, this material is very light.
At first we try to ensure that the surface perfectly adheres to the plastic surface of the see-saw. You can consider this part to be easy, but it is necessary that the surface will not detach from the plastic, if we do not want to have problems with claims. That is why we test lots of different materials. If everything is well-glued, a testing in practise can begin.
This is the part, that we are looking forward the most. :) so as our dogs. The surface does not bother our dogs, so at first they become familiar with the see-saw only in coolness. Only after this we test how the dog can slow down on the surface, whether the surface is slippery for him or if he can stick with nails. Judges can bulid difficult onsets to the see-saw, that is why the quality non-slip surface is important. On the see-saw we use 2on/2off method, where we can observe very easily, whether the surface is suitable also in the descending part of the see-saw. The surface and stability of the see-saw is our top priority.
The new see-saw is at the ring already and has completed the first training. For now we are satisfied with the first test and we are looking forward to other active tests in the future.
